Being on the keto carnivore diet, ground beef is an economical staple in our weekly grocery shopping. This bacon cheeseburger bowl is a regular weeknight meal for us and our favourite thing about it is that it is versatile and it can be changed up easily based on different toppings we have on hand.

INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS


⭐️ GROUND BEEF – Can be substituted for any ground meat (chicken, turkey, or pork)

⭐️ BACON – Can be substituted for ham or prosciutto, which would not need to be cooked.

⭐️ CHEESE – This recipe uses cheddar cheese but you can use any cheese you have on hand, such as mozzarella, provolone, moneterry jack, or gouda.

⭐️ SIDES – This recipe uses onion and pickles. These can be omitted if you do not want to use them. Other sides that you can add or substitute include mushrooms, lettuce, fried egg, tomatoes, avocado,

⭐️ CONDIMENTS – This recipe uses avocado mayonnaise and mustard. You can add any low-sugar condiments such as ketchup or BBQ sauce. Be sure to always read the ingredient labels to ensure the ingredients and macros can fit your diet.

HOW TO MAKE BACON CHEESEBURGER BOWLS

STEP 1: Prepare condiments by chopping onion, pickles, and bacon.



STEP 2: Cook bacon on stovetop until crispy and fat is rendered out.

Ingredients
  

For The Ground Beef

  • 600 grams ground beef

Sides

  • 1/2 cup white onion, chopped
  • 2 whole pickles
  • 3 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Condiments

  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Instructions
 

  • Dice up onion and slice pickles into bite-sized pieces. Cut bacon into small pieces.
  • Put bacon into a cold frying pan. Cook on stovetop on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until bacon is golden brown and has rendered out all its fat. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Sautee onion in the bacon fat for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  • Add ground beef and cook with the onions for 3-5 minutes. Keep breaking up the ground beef into smaller and smaller pieces with a wooden spoon.
  • Add minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce to the ground beef.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Continue to cook until beef is fully cooked.  
  • Assemble cheeseburger bowl by scooping ground beef into individual serving bowls. Add toppings (bacon, shredded cheese, pickles) and condiments (mustard, mayonnaise) as desired.
