INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS


⭐️ GROUND BEEF: You can substitute the ground beef for ground chicken, pork, or turkey.

⭐️ TACO BLEND: You may use store bought taco mix.

⭐️ PAPRIKA: Can be substituted for more chili powder or cayenne powder if you prefer a spicy kick

⭐️ TOPPINGS: Feel free to add fresh cilantro, diced red/white onions, pico de gallo, jalapeno peppers, fresh lettuce and fresh tomatoes

HOW TO MAKE KETO TACO BOWL

STEP 1: Prepare taco seasoning by combining spices

This is one of our favourite weeknight staples because you get all the flavours of a taco without any of the carbs! Other toppings we have also used in the past include bacon, onions, and mushrooms.

👉 CAN I MAKE THIS AHEAD OF TIME?

Yes, you can prepare the beef mixture ahead of time. Just assemble the tacos with your toppings before serving.

👉 HOW CAN I STORE THE LEFTOVERS?

Store the ground beef mixture in an air-tight container for up to 5 days.

👉 CAN I USE LEAN GROUND BEEF INSTEAD OF REGULAR GROUND BEEF?

Yes you can. We recommend a fattier cut such as 85/15 or 80/20 as it will be tastier and more satiating. A fattier cut of ground beef is more optimal for the keto diet.  

👉 ARE THESE TACOS SPICY?

The taco seasoning blend is not spicy, but you can add cayenne pepper, hot sauce, or jalapenos to kick it up a notch if you prefer your beef tacos to be spicy.

Ingredients
  

For The Ground Beef

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil or tallow note: any high smoke point oil will work
  • 600 grams ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

For The Taco Seasoning Blend

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder

Condiments

  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 whole avocado
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup full fat sour cream

Instructions
 

  • On a large non-stick frying pan, add avocado oil and heat up for 1 minute. Add ground beef and mash up into chunks.
  • Add taco seasoning blend and minced garlic. Mix and let beef cook for 5-8 minutes. Mash ground beef into small-sized pieces while cooking.
  • Once ground beef is fully cooked, turn off the heat and set aside.
  • Assemble taco bowl by scooping ground beef into individual sserving bowls. Add your desired toppings for each bowl (fresh avocado, salsa, cheddar cheese, and sour cream).
