Beef brisket is incredibly tender and rich in flavour when cooked low and slow. Our slow cooker beef brisket recipe is a base recipe – which is the simplest, most fool-proof way of making brisket with only 3 ingredients and can be dressed up to your liking. This is a mouth-watering meal that produces a very fork tender brisket that melts right in your mouth.

Beef brisket is fantastic for meal prep because it is economical. It is also a cut that is very high in fat (70%+), making it an ideal cut for any low carb high fat diet such as keto or carnivore. It has a great  fat to protein ratio of 70:30.

INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS


⭐️ BEEF BRISKET: We purchased this 10 lb beef brisket from Costco. We highly recommend that you compare prices at your local stores to see where the best deals are in your area. The beef brisket we purchased was $58 CAD or about $5/USD per pound.

You may also use chuck roast. Check out our slow cooker chuck roast recipe that is also carnivore friendly.

⭐️ BEEF BROTH: You can use bone broth, chicken or vegetable broth, or water.

⭐️ SALT: As always, we are using Redmond’s real salt. We are not affiliated with them but genuinely love using their product – an unrefined mineral salt with lots of flavour.

HOW TO MAKE SLOW COOKER BEEF BRISKET

STEP 1: Portion out beef brisket and freeze whatever portion you do not need to cook.



STEP 2: Season generously with salt



STEP 3: Cook on low until meat is fork-tender and falls apart easily



STEP 4: Slice and serve



STEP 5: Freeze any remaining leftovers that you are not eating within 7 days.


TIPS AND TRICKS FOR SUCCESS


βœ… Find a piece of beef brisket that is well marbled or cut evenly  

βœ… Brisket is often sold in large sizes. Find a piece of brisket that is of suitable size based on how large your crock pot is and how much freezer space you have.

βœ… When serving, slice the beef against the grain to prevent any chewiness

This recipe is keto friendly and does not require any modifications. Chuck roast has a protein:fat ratio of 65:35 making this a great cut for your keto diet. Feel free to add additional mushrooms, onions, and garlic as aromatics, and pair with any low carb vegetables as a side.

πŸ‘‰ CAN I MAKE THIS IN THE INSTANT POT?

Yes, follow the same preparation process and pressure cook for 2 hours on high and natural release for 15-20 minutes. In our experience, the crock pot leads to a more tender meat compared to the Instant Pot.

πŸ‘‰ WHAT OTHER SEASONINGS CAN I ADD?

Texas style rub is another spice blend used for beef brisket. Our recipe is the most simple, Carnivore-friendly version there is. On the carnivore diet our taste buds have simplified and we’ve just learned to enjoy beef and salt for what it is.

πŸ‘‰ WHAT CAN I DO WITH LEFTOVERS?

Store in the fridge in an air-tight container for up to 7 days. For the freezer, store in a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply thaw the brisket in the refrigerator overnight, then reheat in the oven or microwave until heated through.

πŸ‘‰ HOW CAN I MEAL PREP THIS?

Slice into 3/4″ pieces and add some liquid released from slow cooking process back to the meat so it doesn’t dry out. It can keep in the fridge for up to 7 days.

You can add sliced onions, mushrooms, and garlic for aromatics.

πŸ‘‰ DO I NEED TO SEAR THE BRISKET FIRST?

It is not necessary to sear the brisket first as this is a tough cut of meat where all of its flavour is extracted during the slow cooking process.

This is a very easy 3-ingredient slow cooker beef brisket recipe that is fork tender, the beef will melt right in your mouth!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 pound beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions
 

  • Clean and dry beef brisket.
  • Season generously with salt.
  • Add seasoned brisket to crock pot or slow cooker. Add beef broth.
  • Cook on high for 8 hours or low for 10 hours until meat is fork tender.
  • Once beef is fully cooked, take out of the slow cooker and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Slice beef against the grain into 3/4" thick pieces and serve.
